As I mentioned before, I used to create clothing for male and female avatars in the late, lamented virtual world called Cloud Party. Well, what image should Facebook offer up as a memory today but this one, a screen capture of my online store in Cloud Party!
(Cloud Party shut down for good on February 21st, 2014. I still miss the place sometimes. I first met several people there that I now know on Sansar.)
I gave away my clothing for free then, and I always got a small thrill whenever I saw someone else wearing something that I had made! That was back in 2012/2013, my first foray into virtual fashion. I find it very fitting that this image comes up unexpectedly again as I embark on a new adventure in virtual fashion design in a new virtual world, Sansar!
Today we had a casual meetup at White Out, a winter experience by Debi Baskerville. I have noticed that sometimes, when you exit out of Sansar while still wearing your VR headset, you get a funny, off-kilter display of the verification message on your computer monitor when you take off your headset. The message lasts only a few seconds. I took a screen capture of it today!
Get your one-of-a-kind, limited edition, Ryan Schultz Fan Club T-shirt for male avatars!
Available now! Operators are standing by! 😉
UPDATE 4:07 p.m.: I went over to the casual meetup today at Debi Baskerville’s White Out experience, and who should I run into but Radioactive Rosca, who was wearing my new T-shirt! Yay!!
Today I learned how to do M:N Segment Sewing in Marvelous Designer. (M:N Segment Sewing means that you can sew M (1 or more) edges to N (1 or more) edges in your pattern, and MD takes care of all the calculations for you.) I used this very useful tool to add hanging panels all around the hem of this crazy purple patchwork dress I created! I don’t think I’m going to sell too many of these, but I will put it up for free in the Sansar Store.
Here is Vanity Fair wearing the dress at Zen Garden:
This night-time winter experience was created by Boden Linden, who says:
This winter cabin is ready for the holidays!. ps this entire experience was created with items from the Sansar Store. Thank you creators 😀
It’s so dark that I had to edit all these pictures in GIMP to get the detail to show up! You’ll have to visit the experience in person to get a true feel for the darkness of a wintry countryside at night. The audio materials for the snow add to the immersion of the experience considerably.
You walk from a forested pine area past trees decorated with Christmas lights, and a couple of vehicles—a farm truck and a carriage—that you recognize from the Sansar Customs experience. Snowflakes are gently falling.
A little further on, you discover a top-hatted snowman under a canopy of Christmas lights flashing many different colours!
Finally, you arrive at a cheerfully decorated house, with a brightly-lit Christmas tree and pine bough garlands, plus stockings hung on the fireplace mantel. There’s a fire roaring in a small pot-bellied stove in the corner, next to a table laden with coffee cups, a bottle of wine, and a basket of food. Nostalgic Christmas music is playing, and it would seem the inhabitants of this cozy home have only just momentarily stepped out.
You could consider this experience a Christmas card from Boden Linden to the rest of us. So please pay a visit soon to Happy Holidays yourself!
(The red dress that Vanity Fair is wearing is brand new from RSVF, and available for S$5 in the Sansar Store.)
