Here are some quick photos I took of Oblee’s concert on Hallowe’en night. This is an important landmark in the history of Sansar, the first-ever live performance! He’s actually streaming live in both Second Life and Sansar tonight, another first.
UPDATE Nov.1st: SIN shared the following picture on the official Sansar Discord channel:
And Unreal Projects uploaded a short video to YouTube of the festivities, showing our avatars “dancing” to the music!
I’ve already blogged about the first event: Musical artist Oblee, already well-known for his Second Life music performances, will be entertaining us at his own Sansar experience, called Spontaneous Live Music, tonight, October 31st, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time/Sansar Time.
The second live performance will take place later this week on Thursday, November 2nd, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time/Sansar Time. Alfy is hosting The Vinnie Live Show at his new Sansar experience, called Arena Music Live Stage.
It’s great to see Sansar developing as a platform for live performances! Hope to see you in-world at the concerts tonight and Thursday night.
The grand prize winner of Sansar’s Scariest Experience contest was C3rb3rus, for his Roswell-themed The Diner. He wins US$10,000, an Oculus Rift + Oculus Touch Virtual Reality Headset Bundle, and a one-year Super Creator Sansar Subscription.
An honourable mention award (winning a one-year Creator Sansar subscription) goes to Abramelin Wolfe for his Paranormal Investigation experience.
Sansar’s Best Props Contest
The winners of the Best Props contest were also announced today. Each winner receives an Oculus Rift + Oculus Touch Virtual Reality Headset Bundle, plus a one year Super Creator Sansar Subscription.
Linden Lab is shutting down the old Slack server that they used to communicate with people in the closed beta test phase of Sansar, so I am (with LL’s permission) reposting some of the images I shared there over here on the Sansar Newsblog.
This image was taken July 14th at Monkey Temple, and shows one of the last in-world product meetings before LL opened the doors to the public. As you can see, we had quite a crowd!
I have a confession to make: I’ve never played Dungeons & Dragons. So I don’t quite understand everything I see in Tina Fayet’s work-in-progress Sansar experience, called D20 Game System.
You’re able to visit different parts of the experience, like the tavern (above), move the pieces, and even roll the dice. So I assume it’s a recreation of the board game. It looks like it would be fun to play with other players in-world, although obviously, I’d have to have someone who knows D&D explain all the rules to me.
I’m looking forward to seeing how Tina further develops this game!
Jenn, the Lead Community Manager of Sansar, has posted to the official Sansar blog about what we can expect to see in the next couple of releases of the Sansar client software. Linden Lab usually adheres to a schedule of one new release per month, usually at the end of the month or the beginning of the next month. (Sometimes Linden Lab will issue a patch between major releases to fix bugs.)
In the next release, nicknamed the “Friends” release, scheduled for the end of October/beginning of November, we should be able to:
Search for an avatar by their name and add them to your Sansar friends list
Click on an avatar to find out their name in desktop mode (a similar version of this feature was already available in VR mode)
Look for events (meetups, concerts, etc.) in the web version of the Sansar Atlas page
Sort the Sansar Atlas entries by date of creation/last update, and alphabetically
Refer to a list of Sansar’s user controls in both VR and desktop mode
Publish your Sansar experiences with an improved workflow
The next release after that is the highly-anticipated “Fashion” release. Jenn says:
Get ready, because Sansar is getting a fashion market! Designers will be able to create and sell avatar outfits, and you can expand your virtual wardrobes with looks from the Store. An exciting new technology integration will enable designers to create and sell avatar clothing that moves and folds naturally.
Other new features include:
The ability to restrict access to a Sansar experience to just the people on your Sansar friends list
An updated design for the Sansar Store (more branding options for creators as well as the ability for the Sansar team to present curated collections of selected sellers and items)
Improvements to full-body IK (inverse kinematics) for avatars
The following notes are taken from the Sansar Product Meetings held on Thursday, October 26th, a day early to allow for the 1st Sansar Halloween Blitz Dodge Cannon Ball Tournament, which is being held on Friday, October 27th, 2017 – see here for more.
Product meetings are usually held every Friday at 9:30am PTD and 4:00pm PTD, and are open to all. There is currently no set agenda, and the meetings are a mix of voice and text. The official meeting notes are published in the week following each pair of meetings, while venues change on a weekly basis, and are announced in the Meet-up Announcements.
The October 26th meetings took place at Darkwood Forest by C3rb3rus. Product team members Cara and Carolyn attended the morning and afternoon sessions respectively, together with Torley and Brett, respectively. Jenn, as usual, led proceedings. I did miss a…
